Notes for International Students who are interested in following courses at the Search and Rescue Training Centre, Malta.

International Training Policy
The Armed Forces of Malta SAR Training Centre (AFM SARTC) is authorised to provide training to foreign officers, other ranks and civilian personnel from foreign military and civilian agencies.

Applying for courses at the SARTC
The AFM does not offer any scholarships, grants, or other financial assistance or aid for international students to attend the SAR Training Centre.
All completed international applications (military and civilian) must be submitted through the Maltese Embassy or the nearest Maltese Diplomatic Mission in the country concerned. The appropriate Maltese Embassy staff component will forward the application to the Training Centre.
On receipt, the application will be acknowledged by the Training Centre via email or fax.

Fund Sources
The country or agency requesting training is responsible for arranging funding. Each course has tuition cost which is adjusted annually. Payment in full is to be made in advance, and must be received by the Training Centre before the start of every course.
Payments can be made in the following manner:
-Bank Draft
-Bank Transfer
Once payment is received and cleared with the bank, a receipt is issued and the booking is considered as active.

Entering Malta
Accepted applicants must ensure that they follow the immigration rules for entering Malta. The Immigration Authorities in Malta or the nearest Maltese Diplomatic Mission should be contacted for further information on this issue. Conditions vary from country to country.
Students must ensure that they have the necessary funds to support themselves throughout their stay in Malta.
Students from countries with no bilateral health agreements with Malta are advised to be medically insured, as health provisions may prove expensive.

Lodging
Students will be accommodated at local 3 or 4 star hotels. Special arrangements have been made with selected hotels at favourable rates. Students wishing to make use of these selected hotels are to advise the SARTC accordingly. Otherwise, students may opt to make their own hotel arrangements.
